Bir zümre, bir parti. Türkiye’de Ordu is a collective volume, edited by Ali Bayramoğlu and Ahmet İnsel and published by İletişim Yayınları in Istanbul. Its Greek translation was published in December 2007 by Bibliorama publishers. The articles contained in the volume were translated by Konstantina Andrianopoulou, Amaryllis Logotheti, and myself. I learned a lot while working on this project, in terms both of language and of information on the Turkish military, its history, and its role in Turkish society. I particularly enjoyed translating Ümit Kardaş’s article on the army’s place within the Turkish power structure and judicial system, and Gülay Günlük-Şenesen’s article on Turkey’s military budget. I also prepared / homogenized acronyms for political parties, organizations etc. mentioned in the book.
Here is the presentation of the book at Bibliorama’s website http://www.bibliorama.gr/?contentid=53&more=35 and at Politeia bookstore’s website https://www.politeianet.gr/books/9789608087699-sullogiko-bibliorama-o-tourkikos-stratos-190551 (includes the book’s table of contents).
